Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. The protag, a guy named Sam, is devastated when he hears his boyfriend nearly died, and was gruesomely mutilated, on a mountaineering trip to the Maudit in Switzerland. Now, the Maudit has a very bad reputation, so when his boyfriend comes home and starts acting funny, and the body count starts climbing, yeah, you can guess he’s been possessed by something up there. The story revolves around Sam’s subsequent attempts to find out what happened and how he can exorcise away whatever is possessing his bf!

I don’t wanna say much more than that. This is excellently written, with Sam and the boyfriend, Nick, both being very well drawn. I especially liked how normal their relationship was portrayed as, a few decades ago it would have been exceptional to see a gay couple starring in a mass-market novel, but now it’s just an unremarkable part of the plot. Really goes to show how far society has progressed! Other than that, there’s a satisfying slow buildup of supernatural activity and reveals about what, exactly, Nick brought back with him from the Maudit. Again, no spoilers, but I think most folks will be pleasantly surprised, it’s definitely not a typical ghost/demon possession! My only critique is that the story seems a *bit* too padded, I think Heuvelt could have taken some parts off pretty efficiently and not lost much. But overall, very nice. 5 stars!

Next chappies of Musuko -just when it seems Lorem might win, Crown brings some reinforcements (the little kid whose sister died) and manages to get the upper hand, crippling Lorem and Zeke and seemingly burning Merii to death. He leaves with Gospel, but thanks to Merii having an extra powerboosting stone, her regeneration manages to save her, so all’s not lost yet I suppose.

Also next chappie of Kaiju no. 8. Hoshina and No. 10 continue to really kick ass together, and their back and forth dialogue is actually amusing, nice nice 😀

College stuffies~

1: Finish up a second big project – About halfway done with this, actually

2: Get Dragonar onto its BDs-Gonna have to work on this again in a few weeks…

3: Maybe finish up a 3rd big project related to Berserk-This will be on hold for a loooong time while Mori-sensei finishes it up.

4: Obviously, get all my affairs in order–will, etc.

5: Finish a FOURTH big project I’ve had thoughts about for a while. Won’t say much more about it other than it involves Visual Novels.

6: *maybe* finish up a fic I’ve always wanted to put out. But this is really extra.

7: Read the end of Girl Genius. At least I got to see Lucrezia kicked out of Agatha’s mind, so that’s something.

8: Play Front Mission 5.

9: Play Brigandine: Grand Edition. I think I’ll work on these emulation related things when I get a new computer–a new deskie, I mean. I do have a new deskie, though, but I’ll hold off on the fun stuff until I’m done with everything else.

Nice week, nice week…
