Oof! Not a good week for me…
STUFF TO DO:
I’m only taking once course, SOC 101, and for that it’s just 4 asynchronous tests. Shouldnt be too hard.
TEST 1 – DONE
TEST 2 – on Thursday Mar 17th
F 😦 Apparently one of my meals gave me a nasty bit of food poisoning and I was out for most of the day with vomiting, cramps, etc. Not going back there to that restaurant ever again…
Felt better thankfully, though not 100%. B+ day.
A- day, pretty much back in business. Went out to do some shopping and complain to the chinese place that gave me the bad buns, they didnt listen :< Guess it’s bad review on Yelp time…
Still convalescing, stayed in and played Elden Ring this time. Got a lot of exploration down! A- day.
A- day, decent day at work, got some bosses off in Elden Ring.
A- day, same as above.
A- day, went out to Golden Hill. I’ll report on my work tomorrow…
GENERAL WEEK RANK:
B. Getting a tummy bug sucks 😦
THINGS I HAD TO FINISH THIS WEEK:
THINGS I HAVE TO DO NEXT WEEK
More or less the same, along with the next test
Some Elden Ring, and standard Vindy reps ofc.
Mastodon by Steve Sred. A young Canadian man who was actually born on a camping trip his father and mother took–and where his mother disappeared, meaning he grew up without her–receives word that his father’s plane crashed in the same region his mother disappeared in. He sets off to find out the truth for himself, to see if his father truly died, but encounters a strange facility apparently run by the military filled with horrifying creatures, and thus gets involved in an even bigger mystery…
I’m not gonna say too much about this, 2 stars. I really wanted to like it too 😦 The violence and gore were very good, probably the best parts of the novel, but while I’m all up for some Lovecraftian or even Bentley Little style mystery, by the end of this story I was too confused by what was going on, what the antagonists wanted, and what the true nature of the mystery was to even feel very scared. Ah, well.
Checked out a new thing, Alice-san chi no iroribata, or By the Furnace of Ms. Alice’s House. Essentially, a guy living in a remote mountain village meets his childhood friend again after a long time, and she’s grown from a sort of tomboy to a bombshell beauty. The manga revolves around both her delicious home cooking for her old friend (as he helps her move in) and their growing relationship, portrayed not really explicitly or with the goofy horny hijinks one often sees in manga, but in certain poses/shots of her that illustrate her beauty in a striking way that the protagonist registers without words. It’s both very sweet and subtle and I really like it.
Not much due to sickness. I am really behind, I GOTTA get something done next week.
BUCKET LIST PROGRESS
1: Finish up a second big project…
2: Maybe finish up a 3rd big project related to Berserk.
3: Maybe do something with Wayward Son I’ve wanted to do for a while, but also extra.
4: Obviously, get all my affairs in order–will, etc.
5: Finish a FOURTH big project I’ve had thoughts about for a while. Won’t say much more about it other than it involves Visual Novels.
6: *maybe* finish up a fic I’ve always wanted to put out. But this is really extra.
7: Read the end of Girl Genius. At least I got to see Lucrezia kicked out of Agatha’s mind, so that’s something.
8: Play Front Mission 5.
9: Play Brigandine: Grand Edition. I think I’ll work on these emulation related things when I get a new computer–a new deskie, I mean.
And in other news, I think I may be dialing back my participation at one of the communities I frequent. Might say more about it later, might not, but for now I think this post, written a long time ago about a different community I also left, has the best advice. I’ll try to keep it in mind now…
