A+ day, went out for wontons, did a bit of writing, relaxed.
Nother A+ day, relaxed and nearly finished Com 449 workshop 5!
Nother A+ day. Almost knocked off my lab 8 for COM 447 and relaxed, nice nice.
Day gets an A. Didn’t get much work done cause I’m already almost finished with most of my immediate responsibilities, but I did relax a lot. Also backed the new GURPS Girl Genius kickstarter, I don’t play GURPS but the book has a TON of background info from what I heard so I want it.
A+ day! Blazed my 6th COM 360 quiz, handed in COM 449 workshop 5, and finished up COM 447 lab 8! Very productive! No Kaiju no. 8 this week, though, ah well.
DEFINITELY an A+ day! Did some shopping, got a flu shot, nice and productive!
Decent day, I’d give it a solid A. Got an *eensy* bit of work done on my next COM 447 project but mainly had a fun time eating out 😀
Also read the next ep of Send my Regards to Kenshiro. Now this is funny again XD At the end of the previous ep, the protag grabbed the knife in his mom’s hand, so now he’s hurt and can’t practice anymore, lol. So his assistant Rika (who he thinks is Yuria) takes over for him, and…she’s actually as good as he is and he’s feeling inadequate. And then the fat otaku guy who’s supposed to be Bat tries and comforts him, but that just pisses him off more XD XD I love it!
THINGS I HAD TO FINISH THIS WEEK:
COM 447 lab 8 – DONE
COM 447 Project 3 – I’ll work on it next week.
COM 449 workshop 5 – DONE
COM 360 quiz 6 – DONE
THINGS I HAVE TO DO NEXT WEEK
Same crap pretty much.

Subnautica: Below Zero.
Its…not bad. In some respects better than Subnautica, in some respects worse. It’s not as bad as some of the louder haters would have me believe.
The good: Some new content things are pretty cool. I like the customizability of the Seatruck compared to the original small sub and Cyclops of Subnautica. I think it manages to capture both the beauty and the fear of the deep ocean, the big whales make relaxing noises while the sounds of the predatory Leviathans are very creepy. The graphics are cool too, the arctic environment of Below Zero is as alien and beautiful as the original Subnautica in its own way.
The okay: The plot and voiceacting aren’t going to win any awards, but they’re not terrible. Some folks complained a lot about the “indecipherable” Indian accent of the AI this time around, but I found it barely noticeable. And aside from that, the story and main character (who actually speaks this time around rather than the original’s silent protagonist) wasn’t too annoying.
The bad: Sorta like the first subnautica, there’s a bit of a dearth of content. Like, some materials are barely used at all; I think I only needed to gather 2 nickel ores for 1 item, and maybe I might need more later on. And I know for a fact one item is only used to make one other item, Benzene, which itself is only used to make one upgrade. Its sort of the same with late game content, like after you reach a certain point and get the upgrade you need to go as deep as possible, there’s nothing to do besides zoom straight to the ending. And some new buildings/items are kind of obscure, I like how the control room lets you change the color of your base but I wish it did a little more.
Also, there’s much more land navigation in this game, which is…okay. One thing I think critics were right about was that the temperature mechanic is pretty toothless, you’re supposed to worry about freezing to death in an arctic environment but there are sooo many escapes (hot springs, hot geysers, and an item that warms you up you can get almost anywhere) that its a little toothless. Aside from that, you do get a nice new hoverbike, but again not a whole lot that’s new, which is also a disappointment.
All in all, I can understand being somewhat disappointed that the sequel to Subnautica didn’t have a lot of really new content over and above the original, aside from the temperature mechanic and some cute/cool new life forms (the big predators act pretty much like the original monsters from the first game do so they’re not that pleasing even though they look cool, but the smaller ones are nice), but Below Zero is still a solid game in its own right. I’d give it a 7/10.
What I said above.
Just class stuff mainly.
BUCKET LIST PROGRESS
1: Read the end of Girl Genius. At least I got to see Lucrezia kicked out of Agatha’s mind, so that’s something.
2: Play Front Mission 5.
3: Play Brigandine: Grand Edition. I think I’ll work on these emulation related things when I get a new computer–a new deskie, I mean.
4: Finish up a second big project…
5: Maybe finish up a 3rd big project related to Berserk.
6: Finish a FOURTH big project I’ve had thoughts about for a while. Won’t say much more about it other than it involves Visual Novels.
7: *maybe* finish up a fic I’ve always wanted to put out. But this is really extra.
8: Maybe do something with Wayward Son I’ve wanted to do for a while, but also extra.
9: Obviously, get all my affairs in order–will, etc.
Next week, busy busy, got more work to do…
